How Connect works with WhatsApp
Connect installs a virtual microphone and speaker on your computer. When you use WhatsApp Desktop (or WhatsApp Web through your browser), you route its microphone through Connect Mic. From then on, everything you say is translated in real time and delivered to the call in the target language — so the person you're calling hears you in theirs, with no change on their phone.
Setup — 3 steps
- Download and open Connect, then open WhatsApp Desktop.
- In your system sound settings, set Connect Mic as the input used by WhatsApp and Connect Speaker as the output.
- Press CONNECT-ON, choose your source and target language, and start your WhatsApp call. See the usage guide for voice preference and voiceprint options.
What the other person experiences
Nothing changes for them. They answer WhatsApp on their phone as usual and hear your translated voice directly — no app update, no plugin, no account needed on their side.
Tips for WhatsApp
- Use WhatsApp Desktop for the most reliable audio routing.
- Run How I Sound? in Connect before calling to preview exactly what the other person will hear.
- Enable Bidirectional mode to also hear their side translated back into your language.
- On a laptop mic, a headset reduces echo and improves translation accuracy.

Can I translate a WhatsApp call in real time?

Does the other person need Connect or an app update?
No. Your translated voice reaches them through the normal call audio, so nothing changes on their phone.
Does Connect work on WhatsApp mobile?
Connect runs on your computer and routes WhatsApp Desktop or WhatsApp Web. For mobile-only WhatsApp, use it from your desktop while the other person stays on their phone.
