Why your apps show as Unrouted — and how to fix it.
Adding Connect's cables in Windows audio settings is not enough. Each app needs to select Connect Mic and Connect Speaker from within its own audio settings. Here's exactly how to do it.
Why apps show as Unrouted
Connect marks an app as Routed only when that app is actively using Connect Mic and Connect Speaker as its audio devices. Setting Connect's cables as the default device in Windows system settings is not enough on its own — most apps ignore the Windows default and use whatever device is saved in their own settings.
The key rule: go into each app's own audio or sound settings and select Connect Mic as the microphone and Connect Speaker as the speaker. Windows defaults won't do it for you.
How to route an app
- Open the app you want to route — your game, Discord, OBS, Zoom, Teams, etc.
- Go into that app's own audio or sound settings, not the Windows settings.
- Set its microphone / input to Connect Mic.
- Set its speaker / output to Connect Speaker.
As soon as the app is actively using both devices, it will appear as Routed in BeLora Connect.
Where to find audio settings per app
Discord
- Open Discord → click the gear icon (User Settings) at the bottom left.
- Go to Voice & Video.
- Under Input Device, select Connect Mic.
- Under Output Device, select Connect Speaker.
Zoom
- Open Zoom → click your profile picture → Settings.
- Go to Audio.
- Under Microphone, select Connect Mic.
- Under Speaker, select Connect Speaker.
Microsoft Teams
- Open Teams → click the three dots (···) → Settings.
- Go to Devices.
- Under Microphone, select Connect Mic.
- Under Speaker, select Connect Speaker.
Google Meet
- Inside a call, click the three dots → Settings.
- Go to Audio.
- Set Microphone to Connect Mic.
- Set Speakers to Connect Speaker.
OBS Studio
- Open OBS → go to File → Settings → Audio.
- Under Global Audio Devices, set Mic/Auxiliary Audio to Connect Mic.
- Set Desktop Audio to Connect Speaker if you want to capture translated output.
Games and other apps
Most games have an audio or sound menu inside their own settings. Look for a Microphone or Voice Chat Input option and set it to Connect Mic. For the output, find Sound Output or Speaker and set it to Connect Speaker.
If an app has no in-app audio selector, it will follow the Windows default device — in that case, setting Connect Mic and Connect Speaker as the Windows default is sufficient.
App is still Unrouted after changing its settings?
A few things to check:
- Make sure Connect is open and running before you launch the app — some apps only detect devices that were available at startup.
- Restart the app after changing its audio settings, then check again in Connect.
- Confirm that Connect Mic and Connect Speaker both appear in Windows Sound settings → Playback / Recording. If they don't, reinstall the Connect Virtual Cable from the Virtual Cable page.
If a specific app still won't route after all of this, contact support and mention which app it is — we'll walk you through it.
